We are working with a top-tier, award-winning London law firm to recruit an experienced Family Children Law Solicitor to join its highly respected Family department.
The team is one of the firm's most established practice areas and is recognised for its expertise across public and private children law, adoption, child abduction, family finance, and international family matters. The firm acts for a diverse client base including private individuals, NGOs, and public bodies, and is consistently ranked by the legal directories.
The Role
Based in a Central London office, this role offers the opportunity to work on complex, sensitive, and high-quality children law matters within a collaborative and well-supported team environment.
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of public and private law children matters, including care proceedings, and will have exposure to more specialist work such as child abduction and cross-border cases, depending on experience and interest.
You will work closely with senior lawyers and partners while being encouraged to develop your advocacy skills, technical expertise, and professional profile.
Candidate Profile
The firm is seeking a solicitor who can demonstrate:
- At least 3 years' PQE in public law children / childcare matters
- Experience representing parents, carers, and (where appropriate) children in care proceedings
- Strong advocacy and case management skills, with the ability to run matters independently
- Law Society Children Panel accreditation, or currently working towards accreditation (strongly preferred)
- Sound knowledge of Legal Aid regulations and procedures (essential)
- A proactive, collaborative working style with excellent client-care skills
Desirable experience includes:
- Private law children matters
- Child abduction and modern family law work
- Cross-border children cases and ICACU membership
- Business development activity or established local referral networks
