Employment Associate | 1-5 PQE | London

A highly regarded London law firm with a longstanding reputation, recognised for its entrepreneurial culture and strong reputation across the SME, owner-managed business and HNW markets is looking for an ambitious and driven employment lawyer to join their expanding team.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level employment lawyer to join a busy and broad-based practice advising both employers and senior executives on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters.

The successful candidate can expect to be involved in:

  • Day-to-day HR and employment law advisory work.
  • Drafting and negotiating employment contracts, service agreements and consultancy arrangements.
  • Advising on disciplinary, grievance, capability and performance management issues.
  • Managing redundancy, restructuring and workforce change projects.
  • Providing strategic advice on employee exits, settlement agreements and restrictive covenants.
  • Employment aspects of corporate transactions, including TUPE support on acquisitions and disposals.
  • Employment Tribunal claims covering unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing and breach of contract matters.
  • Drafting policies, procedures and employee handbooks.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and developing trusted adviser relationships with clients.

The role offers significant client exposure from day one and the opportunity to work closely with partners on complex and commercially sensitive matters.

Client Base

The team acts for a diverse client base including:

  • Entrepreneurial businesses and owner-managed companies.
  • Fast-growth and technology-led businesses.
  • Property and real estate businesses.
  • Professional services firms.
  • Hospitality, leisure and retail clients.
  • Senior executives, directors and high-net-worth individuals on workplace disputes and exits.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • UK qualified lawyer with 1-5 years' post-qualification experience gained at a recognised employment practice.
  • Experience of both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • The confidence to manage matters with appropriate supervision and take ownership of client relationships.
