Mid-Senior Construction Lawyer (Contentious & Non-Contentious)

A highly regarded commercial law firm is seeking to expand its Construction team with the hire of a mid-senior level Construction Lawyer. The firm is known for delivering pragmatic, partner-led advice to a diverse client base and offers a strong platform for high-quality construction and projects work across the UK and internationally.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious construction matters, acting for developers, contractors, consultants, funders and high-net-worth individuals.

Key responsibilities will include:

Non-contentious work

• Drafting and negotiating building contracts (including JCT, NEC and bespoke forms)
• Preparing professional appointments, collateral warranties, bonds and guarantees
• Advising on procurement strategies and project structuring
• Supporting real estate and finance transactions

Contentious work

• Advising on disputes including adjudication, mediation, arbitration and litigation
• Managing claims relating to delay, defects, payment and professional negligence
• Assisting clients with commercial dispute strategies
• Handling matters before the Technology & Construction Court (TCC)

The successful candidate will work closely with partners and take on meaningful responsibility, including direct client interaction.

The Candidate

• 4-8+ years' PQE (flexible depending on experience)
• Strong experience across both contentious and non-contentious construction matters
• Sound knowledge of standard form contracts (JCT and/or NEC)
• Experience of adjudication and/or TCC proceedings
• A commercial and solution-focused approach
• Strong drafting and communication skills
• A collaborative mindset and interest in business development
