About this role

Associate Solicitor - Family & Relationships

Location: Central London
PQE: 1-4 years
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

A highly regarded London-based law firm is seeking an ambitious and client-focused Associate Solicitor to join its Family & Relationships team. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with 1 to 4 years' post-qualification experience to join a collaborative and high-performing department known for its work on complex, high-net-worth family matters.

The successful candidate will have a strong grounding in both private children and financial remedy work, with a particular emphasis on children law. You will work closely with senior lawyers on high-value and often sensitive cases, while also managing your own caseload with increasing autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on a wide range of family law matters, including private children disputes, financial remedy proceedings, and separation issues.
  • Manage private children law litigation, including drafting statements, instructing experts, and preparing for contested hearings.
  • Handle cross-border children matters, liaising with international authorities and legal professionals.
  • Conduct financial remedy litigation, including the preparation of Forms E, questionnaires, and court documents for FDRs and final hearings.
  • Collaborate with Partners and Senior Associates on complex and high-profile cases.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant case files, time records, and billing.
  • Contribute to business development through writing articles, attending events, and supporting marketing initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified solicitor with 1-4 years PQE in family law.
  • Strong experience in private children law and financial remedy work.
  • Confident in managing contested proceedings and working with high-net-worth clients.
  • Excellent drafting, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Commercially aware, solutions-focused, and highly organised.
