Position Available: Supplier Improvement Manager
Location: Hertfordshire (2 days a week in office)
Salary: Up to £52,000 + Bonus
Experience needed: Strong experience improving supplier capability, capacity, and delivery performance within a complex manufacturing supply chain (ideally machining or treatments environment).
About the role
As a Supplier Development Manager, you'll work directly with key suppliers to strengthen their capacity, capability, and delivery performance, ensuring they can meet current and future programme demands.
You'll assess manufacturing readiness, identify constraints, and drive improvement plans across machining, fabrication, and treatment suppliers, collaborating with internal procurement, engineering, and quality teams to build a resilient, high-performing supply chain.
What we need from you:
- Proven experience improving supplier capability, capacity, and delivery performance within a complex manufacturing environment (machining, treatments, precision engineering, or similar)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes with the ability to analyse flow, lead time, and bottlenecks, and develop realistic ramp-up plans
- Skilled in supplier development and performance tools, such as process mapping, PFMEA, capacity and load analysis, and sub-tier assessment
- Experience identifying and mitigating supply chain risks, using lean and structured problem-solving (e.g., DMAIC, 8D)
- Confident engaging suppliers at both shopfloor and management level, driving measurable improvements
