A prestigious, forward-thinking law firm is seeking a Private Client Associate (1-4 PQE) to join its market-leading Private Client department. About the Private Client Team
The team specialises in a broad range of private wealth, tax and international planning work, including:
- Structuring for individuals moving to or from the UK
- Cross-border structuring for business deals, investments, property acquisitions and family wealth-holding vehicles
- Utilising double tax treaties for efficient tax planning
- Handling enquiries and litigation involving tax authorities
- Estate administration, succession and incapacity planning (UK and international)
- Advising on charitable transactions and philanthropic strategies
This is high-quality, varied work with an international flavour, where you will collaborate closely with colleagues in Private Wealth, Real Estate, Corporate and Dispute Resolution.
The Role: Private Client Associate (1-4 PQE)
As an Associate, you will deliver exceptional client service through strategic, solutions-focused advice while building trusted long-term relationships. You will work directly with Partners and senior lawyers, receiving strong support and ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Advisory Work
- Draft bespoke UK and international tax advice
- Implement planning strategies, liaising with overseas counsel and other internal teams
- Manage HMRC enquiries and disclosures
- Advise on founder/management equity, employment-related securities and incentive arrangements
- Draft bespoke deeds, agreements and Wills
- Research specialist areas of tax and trusts law
File & Client Management
- Handle matters from scoping to billing
- Maintain proactive communication with clients throughout the lifecycle of a matter
- Liaise with intermediaries (bankers, trustees, financial advisers)
Cross-Departmental Support
- Work with Private Wealth, Real Estate, Corporate, Litigation and Finance on multi-disciplinary matters
- Lead workstreams on complex, high-value projects
General Responsibilities
- Take ownership of cases and tasks
- Manage workload from multiple Partners
- Meet financial targets
- Support business development and marketing initiatives
- Supervise and mentor junior team members (as required)
- Stay up to date with legal developments and contribute to internal training
About You
We are looking for a candidate who is:
- 1-4 years PQE within private client/tax law
- Experienced in advising HNW/UHNW individuals (or looking to step up into this work)
- Skilled in UK tax and familiar with international tax concepts
- Confident drafting complex documentation
- Commercial, proactive and client-focused
- A strong communicator who enjoys cross-departmental collaboration
