About this role
Seeking a Residential Property Solicitor with substantial New-Build experience to join the growing London-based Residential Conveyancing team. This is an opportunity to join an ambitious full-service law firm. The role offers significant client exposure from day one and the opportunity to manage residential property matters.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Management
- Manage residential conveyancing transactions from instruction through to post-completion.
- Handle:
- Freehold and leasehold sales and purchases
- New build transactions
- Shared ownership matters
- Remortgages
- Transfers of equity
- Exchange contracts and oversee completions.
- Manage Land Registry applications and post-completion requirements.
- Prepare SDLT returns and deal with requisitions.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key point of contact for clients throughout transactions.
- Provide regular progress updates and legal advice.
- Build and maintain relationships with:
- Estate agents
- Mortgage brokers
- Developers
- Other referrers
- Liaise with counterpart solicitors and third parties to progress matters efficiently.
Legal & Technical Work
- Draft and review:
- Contracts
- Transfer deeds
- Mortgage documentation
- Conduct title investigations and reporting.
- Raise and respond to enquiries.
- Review mortgage offers, searches, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure legal compliance across all transactions.
Compliance & Risk
- Conduct due diligence and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with:
- Anti-money laundering requirements
- Data protection regulations
- Residential property legislation and best practice
- Manage client monies, deposits, completion funds, and associated financial processes.
Candidate Profile
Essential Experience
- Strong residential property/conveyancing experience within the London market.
- Experience handling complex leasehold matters.
- Knowledge of Building Safety Act (BSA) requirements and associated residential property issues.
- Proven ability to independently manage transactions from instruction through to completion and post-completion.
- Experience reviewing and preparing residential property documentation.
- Strong understanding of conveyancing compliance and regulatory obligations.
Qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, or equivalent property law qualification.
- Law degree and LPC (or equivalent qualification).
