Java Developer - 12 month contract (PAYE through the agency) - Glasgow Hybrid (3 days onsite)

I am looking for an experienced Java developer to work on the design and development of innovative financial systems that operate in real-time and handle high volumes of transactions globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications using Java for high-volume, real-time transaction processing.
- Work with cross-functional, global teams to implement features and enhancements to their systems.
- Use frameworks such as Spring and testing tools like JUnit to ensure high code quality.
- Work with RDBMS (preferably Sybase or DB2) and write efficient SQL queries to support application functionality.
- Use message-oriented middleware and understand message-driven architecture to facilitate communication between services.
- Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring best practices and quality standards are met.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing updates and insights on project status.
- Embrace agile methodologies to improve development processes and team collaboration.
Required Skills:
- Strong expertise in core Java, with a solid understanding of data structures and concurrency.
- Background working in Agile environments.
- Experience with message brokers such as JMS, MQ, or Kafka.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB and experience in performance tuning for both relational and document stores.
- Knowledge of common open-source libraries used in Java development.
- Experience of working in Linux environments and using Python or Shell scripting.
