Head of Conveyancing
Maidstone
Up to £75,000 plus generous benefits package
A multi officed, Kent based law firm have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Department to join the firm either in their Tonbridge of their Maidstone Office.
Job Purpose:
The Head of Conveyancing will lead and manage the conveyancing department, overseeing all residential and commercial property transactions. This role involves supervising a team of conveyancers, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, maintaining high service standards, and contributing to the firm's growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the conveyancing department.
- Manage and mentor a team of conveyancers, legal assistants, and support staff.
- Ensure KPIs, targets, and client service standards are met.
- Legal Oversight:
- Handle complex and high-value residential and commercial conveyancing matters.
- Provide expert legal advice to clients and team members.
- Monitor legal developments and update procedures accordingly.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with SRA, CLC, AML regulations, and internal policies.
- Conduct file reviews and audits to identify risks and ensure quality.
- Liaise with compliance officers and professional indemnity insurers as needed.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Maintain strong client relationships and ensure high client satisfaction.
- Manage complaints effectively and uphold the firm's reputation.
- Contribute to business development and client retention strategies.
- Process Improvement & Strategy:
- Drive process improvements and adopt legal tech where appropriate.
- Contribute to strategic decisions affecting the conveyancing division.
- Assist in budgeting and resource planning for the department.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, or Chartered Legal Executive.
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in conveyancing, with 3+ years in a senior or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of property law and conveyancing processes (residential and commercial).
- Proven leadership and people management skills.

- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Commercial awareness and client-focused mindset.
- Ability to manage workload under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Technologically competent (case management systems, e-signatures, etc.).
