An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Employment Solicitor (1-4 PQE) to join a highly regarded Employment team at a leading Thames Valley law firm in Reading.
Recognised for its strength in Employment Law, the team advises a diverse client base ranging from SMEs to major national and international organisations. This role offers exposure to a broad range of complex and varied employment matters, providing an excellent platform for a junior lawyer looking to develop their specialist expertise within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Working closely with experienced partners and senior lawyers, you will gain early responsibility, direct client contact, and the opportunity to contribute to high-profile advisory and litigation matters.
The Role
You will advise predominantly employer clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment issues, including:
- Day-to-day HR and employment law support
- Disciplinary, grievance, capability, and performance management matters
- Employment termination and settlement agreements
- TUPE transfers, outsourcing projects, and corporate transactional support
- Employment Tribunal litigation, including unfair dismissal and discrimination claims
- Advocacy opportunities where appropriate
- Restructuring, redundancy, and workforce change projects
- Subject access requests and workplace investigations
- Drafting employment contracts, policies, and related documentation
- Delivering client training sessions, workshops, and employment law updates
There will also be opportunities to work on cross-border employment matters and gain exposure to related areas such as immigration and data protection.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- 1-4 years' PQE in Employment Law
- Experience advising on a range of employment matters
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills
- Strong technical employment law knowledge
- A commercially minded and pragmatic approach to client advice
- Confidence building and maintaining client relationships
- An interest in business development and networking activities
- The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
- A genuine desire to develop into an employment law specialist
Experience assisting with client seminars, workshops, or training programmes would be advantageous but is not essential.
