Employment Associate | London

A market‑leading employment practice with one of the largest and most active respondent‑side teams in the UK is hiring a junior to mid‑level associate in London. This is not a "supporting role" within a corporate practice. The team is known for handling high‑volume, high‑risk and operationally critical employment issues for employers where mistakes are expensive and reputationally damaging.

What you'll actually be doing

This role suits someone who wants to be hands‑on and trusted early, rather than boxed into narrow tasks. You can expect to:

• Run your own employment tribunal cases, often from early conciliation through final hearing
• Act for large employers facing multiple, concurrent claims, including complex discrimination and whistleblowing matters
• Advise on disciplinaries, grievances and dismissals in fast‑moving commercial environments
• Work on restructures, redundancy programmes and TUPE exercises at scale
• Draft and negotiate settlement agreements and employment documentation regularly

Clients

The client base is predominantly major UK and international employers, including insurers, financial institutions, retailers, logistics and infrastructure businesses, and public‑sector bodies. Many instructions involve:

• Cost‑sensitive decision‑making
• Reputational risk
• Tight deadlines and operational pressure

Who this will suit

• England & Wales qualified with 1-4 PQE in employment law
• Strong tribunal experience on the respondent side
• Comfortable managing multiple matters simultaneously
• Confident dealing directly with HR and in‑house teams
• Someone who enjoys being busy and visible rather than sheltered
