About this role

Employment Associate | London

A well‑established West End practice is looking to hire an ambitious Employment Associate. The firm has an excellent reputation for partner accessibility, sensible hours, and giving junior lawyers meaningful responsibility early on.

This is not a volume‑driven or siloed environment. Teams are deliberately lean, and associates are trusted to run with matters, deal directly with clients, and develop commercially as well as technically.

The Role

You will work closely with partners on a mixed, high‑quality workload rather than being pigeon‑holed into a narrow specialism. Day‑to‑day work includes managing your own matters with supervision, drafting core documents, attending client meetings, and helping shape strategy on more complex cases.

The role suits someone who enjoys:

  • Real autonomy rather than just execution work
  • Seeing matters through from instruction to completion
  • Building long‑term client relationships
  • Working directly with decision‑makers rather than layers of hierarchy

Training is hands‑on and informal, with partners actively invested in developing their associates rather than delegating responsibility to PSLs or systems.

Client Base

Clients are predominantly high‑net‑worth individuals, entrepreneurs, family‑owned businesses, charities and established private companies.

The firm is particularly known for its ability to advise clients across multiple disciplines, making this an excellent environment for associates who value context and breadth.

Requirements

  • UK Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with NQ-4 PQE
  • Comfortable taking ownership of matters and dealing directly with clients
  • Strong drafting skills and sound technical judgment

This opportunity would particularly suit an associate who has trained in a larger or more rigid environment and is now looking for greater responsibility, closer partner contact and a clearer route to progression.
