Construction & Engineering Associate (1-3 PQE)

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a construction lawyer to join a highly regarded national Construction & Engineering team. The team advises a broad range of clients across the UK and internationally on complex construction, engineering, energy and infrastructure projects.

This role offers exposure to a diverse mix of contentious construction work, including dispute avoidance, alternative dispute resolution, adjudication, litigation and arbitration. The team is recognised for providing technically strong, commercially focused advice to clients operating in fast-paced and high-value project environments.

The successful candidate will work within a collaborative and supportive team, advising on matters ranging from domestic construction disputes through to major international infrastructure and engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Advising on a broad range of contentious construction and engineering matters.
• Assisting clients with dispute avoidance strategies and risk management throughout the lifecycle of projects.
• Supporting negotiations, mediations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
• Advising on disputes involving delays, disruption, defects, payment issues, professional negligence and contractor or consultant claims.
• Assisting with adjudications, litigation, domestic and international arbitration proceedings.
• Working closely with clients, technical experts and colleagues across a variety of legal disciplines to deliver practical and commercially focused solutions.
• Developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Supporting business development initiatives and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

The Candidate

Applications are welcomed from lawyers with approximately 1-3 years' post-qualification experience who are looking to further develop their careers within a leading construction and engineering practice.

Candidates should demonstrate:

• Experience in contentious construction, engineering or infrastructure matters.
• Strong drafting, analytical and technical skills.
• A commercial and client-focused approach.
• The ability to manage matters with an appropriate degree of autonomy while working collaboratively as part of a wider team.
• An interest in dispute resolution and the construction sector more broadly.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
