About this role

FinOps Data Analyst - Data Analytics - Excel - Python - Canary Wharf Hybrid (3 days onsite) - 12 month contract

I have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Data Analyst to turn complex cloud and SaaS billing data into clear insight that shapes how a global financial services organisation manages its spend. You'll work where data analytics, finance and cloud come together, building models and reporting that directly influence decisions on cost, value and optimisation.

What you'll be doing

  • Analyse, reconcile and standardise billing and usage data across AWS, Azure, GCP and key SaaS providers.
  • Build prototype BI dashboards and self-service reports that deliver ongoing visibility of cloud costs, metrics and trends.
  • Identify, size and prioritise cost optimisation opportunities such as rightsizing, commitment coverage and idle or orphaned resources.
  • Develop and manage cost allocation, showback and chargeback approaches, including advanced models for shared services and platforms.
  • Create unit cost and cost driver analysis, and build forecasting, budget-versus-actual and variance models for cloud consumption.
  • Model the economics of commitments (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, committed spend agreements and credits) and support commercial analysis for strategic vendor engagements.

What we're looking for

  • Experience in data analytics, business intelligence or financial analysis working with large, imperfect datasets.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Power Pivot, Power Query, DAX, data models and complex financial modelling.
  • Working knowledge of Python for data manipulation and automation, for example using pandas or vendor APIs.
  • Experience building or maintaining ETL or data pipelines and handling structured data at scale.
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure and public cloud concepts such as compute, storage, network, containers and managed services.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous business questions into structured analysis and defend your approach and findings.
  • Strong attention to accuracy, detail and data integrity, with clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ideally, experience with cloud billing data structures, cloud cost management tooling, IT cost management approaches and relevant FinOps or cloud certifications.
