SC Cleared DevOps Engineer (SFIA 3) - AWS

Location: Fully Remote (UK Based)

Rate: £385 / day (Umbrella / Inside IR35) - NON-NEGOTIABLE

Contract Length: 6 Months (with strong view to extend)

Clearance: Active SC Clearance (Mandatory / Essential)

The Role:

An exciting contract opportunity has arisen for an AWS-focused mid-level DevOps Engineer (aligned to SFIA Level 3) to join a major Central Government Department. Working within an agile delivery environment under general direction, you will be responsible for transforming cloud designs into robust, secure, and automated public sector platforms.

This is a fully remote engagement offering excellent long-term stability and the chance to support critical digital services of national scale.

Security Vetting:

Due to the secure nature of the environment, candidates must hold active, transferable SC Clearance at the time of application.

Key Responsibilities (SFIA 3 - Apply):

  • AWS Infrastructure: Deploy and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable cloud-native platforms within AWS environments.

  • Infrastructure as Code: Develop, refine, and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) scripts using Terraform to automate build and provisioning activities.

  • CI/CD Optimization: Configure, maintain, and optimize automated testing, scanning, and deployment pipelines (Jenkins / GitLab CI / GitHub Actions).

  • Application & Platform Support: Monitor system metrics, manage live test environments, and troubleshoot configuration or platform use issues to ensure maximum reliability.

Technical Stack & Requirements:

  • Demonstrable technical execution at a SFIA Level 3 capability tier.

  • Strong hands-on commercial experience with AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM).

  • Proven experience writing reproducible infrastructure templates using Terraform.

  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting containerised workloads (Docker / Kubernetes).

  • Familiarity with foundational DevOps automation tools (Ansible, Packer, or similar).
