A highly regarded law firm based in the Thames Valley is seeking a solicitor to join its expanding Agricultural and Rural Land team. The firm has a strong regional reputation and a long-established presence advising the rural and agricultural community. Following a period of significant growth, the team is now looking to further strengthen its offering.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a solicitor with 0-4 years' PQE to work collaboratively with recognised specialists, while also managing their own caseload. The role offers real variety and intellectual interest, encompassing a broad mix of traditional agricultural property work as well as more specialist rural development and diversification projects.
Day-to-day matters will include:
- Sales and purchases of farms, estates, and agricultural land
- Agricultural tenancies, including succession rights and surrenders
- Overage, promotion and option agreements
- Wayleaves, easements, and utility rights
- Strategic land transactions and development agreements
- Renewable energy projects
- Biodiversity net gain, carbon offsetting and other agri-environmental schemes
Clients include landowners, farmers, developers, educational institutions, and investors. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to business development initiatives and benefit from supportive supervision, with clear scope for progression.
The Team
This team is known for its depth of expertise, attention to detail, and commercially pragmatic advice. It regularly advises on rural land sales and acquisitions, agricultural tenancies, commercial ventures, and complex diversification projects. The wider group includes specialists in private client, trusts, corporate, family, employment and disputes, allowing the team to provide a full-service offering to clients operating in the rural sector.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
- Have 0-4 years' PQE in agricultural property or commercial real estate, with a strong interest in rural law
- Demonstrate excellent technical skills in land and property law
- Be commercially aware and client-focused
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Be enthusiastic about working in a niche and rewarding area of law
