Responsibilities

Senior Associate (Insurance & Reinsurance) - Key Duties

* Advise insurers, managing general agents and other market participants on complex coverage issues, with a focus on property damage claims across the London and international insurance and reinsurance markets.
* Draft and review policy wordings, and provide strategic advice on high-value and multi-jurisdictional coverage disputes.
* Manage complex claims litigation and subrogated recoveries, including proceedings before the Commercial Court and the Technology & Construction Court.
* Lead matters with minimal supervision, supervise junior lawyers, and work closely with partners and sector teams across the firm.
* Contribute to client relationship management, thought leadership and business development initiatives to support the continued growth of a top tier Legal 500 Insurance & Risk practice.

Requirements

* Minimum of seven years' post-qualification experience in insurance and reinsurance law, gained within a recognised City or market-facing practice, or in-house within the insurance market.
* Strong understanding of the London insurance market, including coverage analysis, complex and high-value claims, and policy wording interpretation.
* Demonstrable experience handling property damage claims and managing matters independently from instruction through to resolution.
* Commercial judgement, leadership capability and the confidence to engage directly with clients and market participants.
* A collaborative approach and commitment to maintaining high technical standards within a Legal 500 ranked environment.
