The Opportunity
A leading international law firm is seeking a talented 3+ PQE Residential Development Associate to join its high-performing London real estate team. The practice advises on major development projects, investment transactions, financing structures and mixed-use schemes across a broad range of sectors, including residential, PBSA, PRS and social housing. The team regularly supports clients on large scale urban regeneration and development matters, as well as direct and indirect investment transactions in the UK property market.
This role offers exceptional exposure to high-value development work, working closely with major developers, institutional investors and funders on complex, multi-site schemes.
The Team
You will join a London-based real estate team known for its involvement in large development and regeneration projects, long-term investment matters and significant portfolio transactions. The team advises on urban regeneration, financing arrangements, large development schemes and strategic land matters across multiple sectors including residential and mixed-use.
Associates in the group typically undertake drafting, due diligence, negotiations, client meetings, and play active roles in transactions across investment, development and asset management.
What You Will Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting on residential and mixed-use development projects on behalf of developers, investors and funders.
- Drafting and negotiating:
- land acquisition agreements,
- development agreements,
- overage and option agreements,
- easements and infrastructure documents.
- Managing site assembly, including title due diligence, risk analysis and reporting.
- Supporting on planning, construction and infrastructure-linked aspects by working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
- Running transactions from instruction through to completion with autonomy.
- Attending client meetings, assisting with negotiations, and preparing bespoke commercial solutions.
- Contributing to the team's business development initiatives.
What They're Looking For
The firm is seeking someone with:
- A deep understanding of UK real estate development law, with hands-on experience in residential or mixed-use schemes.
- Excellent drafting and transaction management skills, reflecting strong technical precision.
- Confidence analysing title, development risks and complex contractual structures.
Supported by:
- Real estate associates are expected to demonstrate technical proficiency, drafting capability, due diligence experience and strategic advisory skills.
Academically Strong with High-Quality Training
- Strong academics demonstrating analytical capability and attention to detail.
- Trained and qualified at a well regarded UK or international firm with a recognised real estate practice.
- Ideally 3-5 years' PQE with substantive exposure to development work.
