About this role

.NET / C# Developer - Migration project - 6 month contract (Umbrella engagement only).

Are you a seasoned .NET developer with a passion for clean architecture, data-driven design, and solving legacy challenges with modern solutions?

I am looking for a strong C# developer to play a key role in a major transformation project. My client is overhauling their long-established enterprise platform originally built with Oracle and PHP, transitioning to a modern tech stack centred around .NET (C#) and PostgreSQL. The migration will involve a complete rebuild of embedded logic, with over 240 stored procedures to reimagine as efficient, testable application code.

This transformation is being rolled out in stages, meaning the new system will need to interoperate with the legacy platform for a time. You'll help design and implement a hybrid architecture, support live business processes, and bring critical functionality into the .NET era.

They are also using AI-assisted tooling to accelerate migration, improve quality, and reduce technical debt. You'll be part of a like-minded team that values innovation and clear, maintainable code.

As such, I am keen to speak with candidates who have

  • Extensive experience in backend development with .NET/C#, ideally for corporate clients
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, especially Oracle and PostgreSQL
  • Experience of re-engineering legacy logic into modern application code would be preferred
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including SQL dialect differences and tuning
  • Familiarity with systems where legacy and modern platforms run concurrently
  • Experience using AI development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) in a production environment would be an added bonus
  • Strong architectural thinking and a clear, pragmatic approach to solving complex problems
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
  • Experience working in agile teams with iterative delivery cycles
  • Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD workflows, and containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of microservices and domain-driven design
