Position Overview:

The Head of Buying for IFS (human grade) approved pet food production facilities in the Netherlands is responsible for leading the strategic procurement of raw materials, ensuring operational excellence, cost efficiency, and sustainability.


Key Responsibilities


* Lead the strategic sourcing of raw materials essential for pet food production, ensuring adherence to quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability standards.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers; negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance to ensure a reliable and consistent supply chain.
* Collaborate closely with the Head of Production to align procurement activities with production schedules, optimizing stock levels and minimising raw material requirements.
* Implement effective cost management strategies to reduce raw material expenses without compromising quality.
* Optimise inventory levels to minimise waste and enhance overall profitability.
* Continuously analyse market trends, monitor price fluctuations, and assess supply chain risks and opportunities for innovation to inform purchasing decisions.
* Ensure procurement practices are fully aligned with company sustainability goals and comply with relevant industry standards.
* Work with suppliers to drive sustainability improvements throughout the supply chain, supporting the company's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives.
* Foster a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and strategic thinking within the buying team, ensuring alignment with the company's broader strategic objectives.

Requirements


* Proven experience in buying or procurement, preferably within the pet food industry or a related sector.
* Strong understanding of supply chain management and logistics.
* Demonstrated ability to negotiate, manage supplier relationships, and make data-driven purchasing decisions.
* Strategic mindset with a commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive team performance and continuous improvement.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
