About this role

Employment Associate | Public Sector | London
Join a nationally recognised employment team consistently ranked for its exceptional work across the charity, education, public sector, not‑for‑profit and wider community‑based organisations. This is an opportunity for a 1+ PQE Employment Associate to step into a practice uniquely positioned at the intersection of law, community impact, and values‑driven advisory work.
The Role

Contentious (60-70%)

  • Managing Employment Tribunal litigation, including discrimination and whistleblowing matters - areas for which the team is specifically commended
  • Handling complex safeguarding, reputational risk, and regulatory‑linked disputes
  • Supporting clients through sensitive, values‑driven disputes where organisational ethos and community impact are central

Non‑Contentious (30-40%)

  • Advising on restructures, organisational change, terms/conditions reviews, and redundancy processes
  • Providing TUPE expertise, including charity mergers, social enterprise restructures and academy‑related transactions
  • Guiding trustees, governors, senior leadership and boards on employment matters with governance dimensions
  • Drafting contracts, settlement agreements, policies and advisory frameworks tailored to the third‑sector context
Client Base
Rather than a broad commercial client base, your work will be genuinely sector‑immersive, supporting employers whose missions shape communities:
  • Education institutions: multi‑academy trusts, independent schools, FE colleges and specialist institutions.
  • Charities, social enterprises, faith‑based organisations and not‑for‑profits, including nationally significant sector leaders
  • Community‑anchored or public‑sector‑aligned employers, often navigating sensitive safeguarding and governance issues
