About this role

Data/BI Analyst
Edinburgh (Onsite role, moving to flexible working after completion of probation period)
Up to £37,500 Neg depending on experience.

Our client a leading UK based law practice, are looking for a Data/BI Analyst to help unlock the value of the firm's financial, operational, and client data by transforming it into clear, actionable insights. These insights will support strategic decision-making, improve profitability and efficiency, and enhance the overall client experience. You collaborate closely with teams across Finance, Marketing, Compliance, and other departments to understand and meet their data needs. Translate technical data insights into clear, actionable language for stakeholders and present findings and recommendations to Partners and senior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extract, clean, and validate data from practice management and business systems.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all platforms.
  • Design and deliver dashboards, reports, and KPIs using tools such as SSMS, SSRS, Power BI, and Aderant Development Tools.
  • Produce regular reports to support leadership and business planning.
  • Conduct detailed data analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities within financial, operational, and client datasets.
  • Support pricing, forecasting, and budgeting through data-driven models.
  • Ensure all data handling complies with GDPR, SRA regulations, and internal data policies.
  • Contribute to data governance initiatives, including data quality, auditing, and metadata management.


Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst or Business Intelligence Analyst, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Excel (including pivot tables and Power Query), and SQL.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to clearly explain complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative approach with strong interpersonal skills to work across multiple departments.
  • Excellent communication skills
