About this role

If you're an experienced corporate insurance lawyer looking to take the next step in your career, this opportunity offers the platform, autonomy, and scope to do so. You'll join an international team handling complex, cross-border transactions and advising some of the most recognised names in the insurance sector.

The Role:

You'll take a leading role in advising global insurers, re-insurers, and financial institutions on a wide range of strategic and transnational matters.

  • Lead major corporate insurance transactions, including public and private M&A, Part VII transfers, and portfolio acquisitions.
  • Advise boards and executive teams on governance, capital markets, and regulatory issues.
  • Oversee deal execution, providing guidance to associates and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality legal advice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across corporate, finance, regulatory, and data protection teams on complex multi-jurisdictional mandates.
  • Contribute to business development, client relationship management, and the continued growth of the practice.
  • Engage in responsible business initiatives and act as an ambassador for the firm's reputation within the market.

Who We're Looking For:

The firm is seeking a driven and technically skilled lawyer with strong sector knowledge and the ability to take ownership of complex, high-value work while contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent) with 3-7 years' PQE in corporate or insurance law, ideally gained at a leading international or City firm.
  • A strong academic record (minimum 2:1 degree) and a proven ability to manage technically demanding, high-value matters.
  • Sound knowledge of the insurance industry, across life, general, Lloyd's, and run-off markets, and an appreciation of emerging trends such as InsurTech, cyber risk, and data protection.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, coupled with confidence in advising senior stakeholders and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Commercial awareness, leadership ability, and a collaborative, client-focused approach.

What You'll Gain:

This position offers a highly rewarding career path within a leading international environment, providing access to exceptional work, professional development, and a strong platform for long-term progression.

  • Salary: Competitive remuneration package, including a performance-based bonus scheme.
  • Contract: Full-time, permanent.
  • Location: London, with a hybrid working model (60% office, 40% home).
  • The opportunity to work with one of the strongest corporate insurance teams in Europe, consistently recognised in the Legal 500 for excellence in Corporate & Regulatory insurance work.
  • Involvement in cutting-edge matters, from restructuring and reinsurance arrangements to emerging technology and distribution innovations.
  • A transparent progression framework, secondment opportunities, and exposure to international mandates across multiple jurisdictions.
  • A supportive culture that values diversity, well-being, and flexibility, underpinned by a commitment to training and professional development.
  • Modern office environment designed to encourage collaboration and agile working, with access to advanced legal technology and research tools.

Why This Opportunity:

This position offers a balance of leadership and hands-on technical involvement. You'll have the chance to shape transactions that define the insurance market, while contributing strategically to the growth of a practice known for its depth, quality, and collegian spirit.
