A respected, family-run law firm with a modern, commercial outlook is seeking a Corporate & Commercial Solicitor (4+ PQE) to join its expanding team in Chelmsford or Leigh-On-Sea. The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified solicitor with at least 4 years' PQE in corporate and commercial law. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload while playing a key role in developing the Commercial department and contributing to the firm's wider growth. The role is suited to an ambitious professional looking to take ownership of their work, develop client relationships, and grow within a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of corporate and commercial matters including M&A transactions, shareholder agreements, restructurings, and commercial contracts
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and professional referrers
• Provide strategic, solution-driven legal advice to business clients
• Support or lead the growth and development of the Commercial department
• Collaborate with other departments to deliver seamless client service
• Contribute to marketing and business development activities to attract new clients
• Help achieve departmental KPIs and firm-wide growth targets

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a commercially minded, confident solicitor with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for business development. They should be comfortable working independently while also being an enthusiastic team player.
Essential:

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 4+ years' PQE
• Strong background in corporate and commercial law
• Experience with mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring, financing, and commercial contracts
• Commercial acumen and an understanding of the needs of business clients
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Commitment to high standards of client care and professional ethics

Desirable:

• Previous experience in team management or business development (training can be provided)
