Contentious Trust & Probate Solicitor

A leading law firm with a national reputation for private client and charity law is seeking a skilled and ambitious Contentious Trust & Probate Solicitor to join its high-profile team in Salisbury. This is an excellent opportunity for a litigator looking to specialise or build on their experience in contentious private client work within a supportive and career-progressive environment.
The Work You'll Be Doing
The successful candidate will advise on the full spectrum of disputes arising from estates and trusts, acting for charities, individuals, and professionals. The caseload will be diverse and intellectually stimulating, with regular involvement in multi-million-pound estates and high-value legacy disputes.
Typical matters include:
- Contested will claims (validity, undue influence, capacity, etc.)
- Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims
- Proprietary estoppel and lifetime gift disputes
- Executor and trustee disputes
- Construction and rectification of wills
- Court of Protection applications and statutory wills
- International estate litigation
Key responsibilities:
- Managing a broad caseload of contentious probate and trust matters
- Delivering commercially effective and strategically sound advice
- Building strong client relationships and ensuring high levels of satisfaction
- Delegating and cross-referring work within a collaborative team environment
- Continuously developing technical expertise and contributing to the wider success of the team

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience in contentious probate and/or trust litigation (full or partial caseloads will be considered)
- Be passionate about private client disputes, with strong technical and analytical abilities
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have a methodical, proactive, and detail-driven approach
- Be an effective team player who contributes to both team performance and client success
