A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Construction Disputes Solicitor (7+ PQE) to join its top‑ranked Construction Advisory & Disputes (CAD) team in London. The successful candidate will join a practice renowned for handling complex, high‑value disputes across major infrastructure, energy and engineering projects.

About the Team

The construction disputes team is consistently recognised as a Band 1 practice for contentious construction work in London, noted for its market‑leading capabilities in domestic disputes and international arbitration.
The group regularly advises major contractors, project sponsors and lenders on high‑profile infrastructure and energy schemes, including significant renewable, nuclear and offshore wind projects.

The Role

The role involves acting on a wide range of contentious construction matters, including:

  • International arbitration under major institutional rules such as ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, SIAC and LMAA, with particular focus on disputes arising from energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Domestic litigation in the Technology & Construction Court involving complex, high‑value disputes.
  • Adjudications, expert determinations, mediation and DAB/DAAB processes for both UK and international construction matters.
  • Providing project‑side advisory support on distressed projects and advising across the full lifecycle of major construction schemes.

The team acts for many of the world's largest contractors, reflecting its deep sector expertise and international reach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and leading complex construction and engineering disputes.
  • Advising on claims relating to delay, disruption, defects, payment, and contract termination.
  • Running both international arbitration and domestic litigation matters.
  • Supporting long‑term client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.
  • Providing mentorship to junior lawyers and assisting with knowledge development.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:

  • 7+ years' PQE in contentious construction gained at a reputable firm.
  • Strong technical expertise in construction law and a track record in adjudication, arbitration and litigation.
  • Experience acting for contractors, owners or project sponsors on large‑scale infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Excellent client‑facing and project management skills.
  • A collaborative, commercially minded approach.
