Business Development Manager
This company is on a mission to become the most successful UK-born FinTech. Our platform enables businesses to control real-time spending via smart Mastercard® cards, streamline expense management, and make fast, secure international payments - all through a powerful web and mobile interface.
Role Overview
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities within the payments space. You'll build strong relationships with prospects and partners, position our solutions effectively, and deliver against ambitious sales targets.
This is a hands-on commercial role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and understands the payments ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- New Business Acquisition
- Identify and pursue opportunities with target customers across [verticals/regions].
- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, and market research.
- Sales Execution
- Conduct consultative sales conversations to understand client needs around FX, card issuing, acquiring, merchant services, or payment gateways.
- Deliver tailored product pitches, demos, and proposals to senior decision-makers (CFOs, Finance Directors, Heads of Payments).
- Negotiate terms and close deals that drive long-term value.
- Market & Partnerships
- Build relationships with key stakeholders including payment service providers, fintechs, and channel partners.
- Stay current with payment trends, regulations, and competitor offerings to position our solutions effectively.
- Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with Product, Marketing, and Customer Success to ensure smooth onboarding and client satisfaction.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and report regularly on pipeline, progress, and market insights.
Key Requirements
- Experience
- 3-5+ years in B2B sales or business development, ideally within payments, fintech, financial services, or SaaS.
- Proven track record of consistently hitting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong understanding of the payments ecosystem - e.g., card acquiring, FX, cross-border payments, merchant services, or embedded finance.
- Skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to engage senior stakeholders and build trusted relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen with a consultative, solutions-focused approach.
- Self-starter, resilient, and motivated by results.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Ability to travel when needed.
