Role Title: Business Analyst - API Payments

Umbrella rate: £350 - £385 / Day
Location: Knutsford
Duration: 12 Months
Days on site: 2-3


We are seeking a highly skilled Payments Business Analyst with strong experience in API integration and a solid understanding of the Payments domain. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring seamless delivery of payment solutions and API-driven integrations.

Key Responsibilities
* Requirements Gathering & Analysis
o Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand payment workflows, transaction processing, and integration needs.
o Document functional and non-functional requirements for APIs and payment systems.
* API Integration
o Work closely with engineering teams to design and validate API specifications (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).
o Ensure API documentation is clear and aligns with business requirements.
* Payments Domain Expertise
o Analyze payment gateways, card networks, digital wallets, and real-time payment systems.
o Understand compliance requirements (PCI DSS, PSD2, tokenization, fraud prevention).
* Stakeholder Management
o Act as a liaison between product, technology, and operations teams.
o Conduct workshops, demos, and training sessions for stakeholders.
* Testing & Validation
o Support UAT and SIT phases by validating API responses and payment flows.
o Ensure data integrity and transaction accuracy across integrated systems.


Required Skills & Qualifications
* Technical Skills
o Strong understanding of API design principles and integration patterns.
o Familiarity with tools like Postman, Swagger, and API monitoring solutions.
o Knowledge of payment processing systems, gateways, and settlement processes.
* Domain Expertise
o Hands-on experience in Payments industry (cards, wallets, UPI, ACH, etc.).
o Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, PSD2).
* Soft Skills
o Excellent communication and documentation skills.
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Education
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with ISO 8583, Open Banking APIs, or real-time payment systems.
* Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA or Confluence.
