AI Consultant (Contract) - Outside IR35

We are seeking a highly skilled AI Consultant (Microsoft Copilot Specialist) to support the secure adoption, administration, and governance of AI technologies within a large enterprise environment. This is an outcome-driven engagement requiring a true Copilot SME who can operate independently across both advisory and hands-on delivery. You will play a key role in ensuring AI tools are deployed securely, compliantly, and effectively across the organisation.

Key responsibilities:

• Act as a subject matter expert for Microsoft Copilot, providing guidance on secure configuration and tenant-level administration
• Design and implement governance frameworks for Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, and AI agents
• Lead on secure deployment and adoption of Copilot, ensuring alignment with data protection and security standards
• Develop agentic identity and access management models, including service principals, managed identities, and permission controls
• Define and document AI identity lifecycle processes including creation, monitoring, rotation, and decommissioning
• Conduct security and compliance risk assessments for AI-enabled tools and provide mitigation strategies
• Produce security design documentation, policies, and standards for AI usage
• Provide expert-level advice to senior stakeholders on Copilot capabilities, risks, and best practices
• Support security investigations related to AI usage where required

Skills and experience:

• Deep, specialist experience with Microsoft Copilot within enterprise M365 environments is essential
• Proven expertise in Copilot governance, security, and configuration at scale
• Strong hands-on experience with Copilot Studio and AI agent development
• Experience managing non-human or agentic identities in Microsoft Entra ID
• Solid background in information security, governance, risk, and compliance
• Ability to operate independently as a consultant or SME with minimal oversight

Desirable:

• Experience working in regulated or high-risk environments
• Knowledge of Microsoft Purview, Defender, and wider Microsoft security ecosystem
• Relevant information security or cloud certifications

Requirements:

• Must be eligible to work in the UK
• Available for a 6-month contract with likely extensions
