Acoustic Measurement Engineer - San Francisco - $140 - 160K

The Role - Seeking a highly skilled Acoustic Measurement Engineer to join an innovative product development team in the San Francisco Area. In this role, you will contribute to the creation of cutting-edge consumer electronic devices with a strong focus on audio performance.

This is an opportunity to work across multiple phases of product development, from prototyping new audio technologies to validating product features through detailed measurements & user testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-precision acoustic & audio measurements across electrical and acoustic domains.

• Evaluate and prototype new audio and sound rendering technologies on early-stage consumer electronic devices.

• Validate acoustic product features through measurement data and user studies.

• Develop and execute test plans, ensuring repeatability and reproducibility of results.

• Organize and maintain laboratory equipment, tools, and documentation for ongoing projects.

• Provide timely, categorized, and validated data to support fast-paced project timelines.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, or related tech field.

• 3+ years hands-on experience - audio hardware testing.

• Proficiency with audio lab instrumentation and tools:

  • HATS

  • Measurement microphones

  • Head Acoustics ACQUA

  • Audio Precision

  • Listen Inc. SoundCheck

• Experience with scripting and data analysis using tools like MATLAB or Python.

Preferred:

• Understanding of hearing science or psychoacoustics.

• Familiarity with tools like laser displacement meters (Keyence, Polytec) or Klippel systems.

• Experience working in fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering environments.
