In this edition of our Employee Spotlight series, we catch up with Sol Rosemeyer, Senior Consultant in our Technology division, to hear about his first year with Henderson Scott. From joining the AI & Software GTM team in July 2024 to earning a promotion in less than a year, Sol reflects on the training, support, and lessons that have shaped his journey so far.
Here, Sol shares his experience of joining Henderson Scott, what he’s learned along the way, and his advice for anyone starting out in their first year.
1. Can you tell us about your journey so far at Henderson Scott?
I came on board in July 2024 as a Consultant in the AI & Software GTM team. Right from the start, I had a really clear idea of what was expected of me and what the steps to progression looked like, which made it easy to hit the ground running.
Since then, I’ve been building my network and carving out a specialism in AI/ML start-up recruitment. It’s a fast-paced, competitive space, but that’s exactly what makes it so interesting. Ten months in, I was promoted to Senior Consultant, which was a really proud moment for me.
2. What was your onboarding and training experience like when you first joined?
The onboarding process was really clear and structured. I knew from day one how progression worked and what I needed to focus on.
The training was thorough but also flexible. It covered everything I needed to start strong, but if there was an area I wanted to improve in, extra training was always easy to arrange. That flexibility helped me build confidence early on.
3. How would you describe the culture at Henderson Scott?
The culture here is ambitious but supportive. Everyone here wants to perform at a high level, but there’s also a genuine team spirit.
People are quick to share advice and celebrate each other’s wins, which makes it a really positive environment to work in.
4. What kind of support have you received from management?
I’ve had regular check-ins with my manager, where we go through KPIs, targets, and any challenges I’m facing. That’s been really helpful to keep me on track.
What’s been especially valuable is the way blockers are worked through in detail. It’s never just “hit your numbers”, it’s about finding solutions together, which has helped me develop quickly.
5. What are some of the key skills you've learned since joining?
Consistency and resilience have been the biggest lessons for me. Recruitment can be challenging at times, but staying consistent with the basics really pays off.
I’ve also learned the importance of building strong, trust-based relationships with both clients and candidates. That’s where long-term success comes from.
6. How has your hard work translated into success?
The promotion to Senior Consultant in just 10 months was a huge milestone, and the commission structure has meant I’ve been directly rewarded for the effort I’ve put in.
Beyond that, I’ve built lasting partnerships with some incredible high-growth AI/ML start-ups. Knowing I’ve played a part in helping them grow has been a big motivator.
7. What advice would you give to someone starting their first year at Henderson Scott?
Be consistent and stay relentless. Recruitment rewards persistence.
Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions. There’s so much knowledge across the business, from senior consultants to directors, and people are always willing to share their experience. Use that to your advantage.
Sol’s first year is a brilliant example of how structure, support, and determination combine to drive success at Henderson Scott. His journey shows what’s possible when you embrace the opportunities in front of you, stay consistent, and tap into the collaborative culture around you.
