Our selected charities are usually decided on by the Senior Leadership Team, however, this year we wanted to give our employees the opportunity to nominate charities that mean something to them and then work together as a team to set their own target to support their chosen charity. Each of these charities has a unique mission, but they all share a commitment to improving the lives of people in need.
We are excited to announce the additional charities we have partnered with for 2023 are Stepping Stones DS, The Whitechapel Centre, My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, British Heart Foundation and Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity.
Our first charity, selected by our London Commercial Team, is Stepping Stones DS, a charity that supports children and young adults with Down syndrome and their families. They provide a range of services, including educational and social opportunities, as well as resources and guidance for parents and caregivers. Stepping Stones DS is a vital organisation for the Down syndrome community, and we are proud to support their work with the help of Lara Scott, our charity representative for our London office.
Secondly, chosen by Sean Brown and our Liverpool team is The Whitechapel Centre, a Liverpool-based charity that provides support and accommodation to people experiencing homelessness. They offer a range of services, including a day centre, outreach teams, and emergency accommodation, all of which help to provide essential support to people in need and helping to reduce homelessness in our community.
Our third charity choice this year is the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, a charity that is focused on finding a cure for motor neuron disease (MND). Named after Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir, who was diagnosed with MND in 2016, the foundation is committed to funding research into this devastating condition. Isabelle Lanoye, our charity representative for Edinburgh will be helping the business to support their efforts to find a cure for MND.
Our Hemel Hempstead office have selected the British Heart Foundation as their chosen charity this year, with help from charity rep Stephen Murphy. They fund research into the causes and treatments of these conditions, as well as providing support to patients and their families. The work of the British Heart Foundation is essential in helping to reduce the impact of heart disease and stroke, and we are proud to support their contribution to society.
Our Operational HQ have chosen to support the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, which provides specialist palliative care to people in Buckinghamshire and surrounding areas. They offer a range of services, including in-patient care, day hospice, and community nursing, all of which help to support patients and their families during difficult times. Designated charity rep, Aimee Cronin will be leading the support from the business towards their work in providing compassionate care to people in need.
This year, we will also be continuing our partnership with Ecologi, dedicated to fighting climate change and carbon reduction. With over 350 trees in our forest already, we are very excited to support more projects around the world and watch our forest continue to grow in 2023.
Each of these charities are doing important work to improve the lives of people in need, and we are proud to support all their efforts. With the help of our charity representatives, we are as committed and dedicated as ever to raise as much as we can in 2023 for these 6 charities and hope that our contribution will help to make a difference.
