Position Available: Cost Estimating & Forecasting Analyst
Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: Up to £47,000 (DoE) + Bonus
Experience needed: We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with experience in cost estimation, forecasting, or cost engineering in the defence, aerospace, or manufacturing sectors. Familiarity with Non-Recurring Costs (NRC) and Recurring Costs (RC) is essential, as well as proficiency in advanced Excel and tools like SAP, Primavera P6, DRM, or MATRIX.
About the role:
As a Cost Estimating & Forecasting Analyst, you'll play a pivotal role in analysing, categorising, and managing costs related to weapon systems, air platform integration, and munitions. You'll lead the population and upkeep of the UK Cost Engineering Database, ensuring data accuracy and consistency, while working closely with engineers, project teams, and Cost Estimating Managers.
This dynamic role offers opportunities to influence key business decisions across the project lifecycle and contribute to competitive bids and cost models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the UK Cost Engineering Database, ensuring NRC and RC data is accurate and normalised
- Categorise system elements for valid cost comparisons and improve estimating processes
- Support cost target definition, bid preparation, and project delivery with cost models
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts and cross-functional teams to refine estimates
- Implement Design for Competitiveness approaches throughout the project lifecycle
What we need from you:
- Proven experience in cost estimating or cost engineering within defence, aerospace, manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with Non-Recurring Costs (NRC) and Recurring Costs (RC)
- Proficiency in tools such as SAP, Primavera P6, DRM, or MATRIX
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Macros)
- Experience with cost databases or estimation tools is a strong plus
